About Wine Haul
How and why Wine-Haul’s Scaling Processes and Transportation Services came to fruition.
P.S, we were committed to providing value.
Transportation Model
Wine-Haul’s founding idea was to combine specialized and attentive service with optimization of the businesses we serve through an integrational transportation approach.
If you knew you could use a service that could save you THOUSANDS of dollars on transportation AND ensure your unique product arrives safely, would you? Consider items you might buy or transport in medium to large quantities. This includes bottles, grapes, juices, finished wines for your label, corks, and more. During harvest season, trucks often carry mixed loads of grapes and stop at several wineries.
However, wineries don’t usually receive this basic level of coordination from whatever transportation companies they use. Wine-Haul coordinates with hundreds of wineries, vineyards, and production facilities in Texas to understand specific needs and requirements. With this information, our team records industry-specific data and integrates routes and schedules for our clientele, as well as deliver the specialized care products require. Wine-Haul is still new and has lots to learn, but its idea is innovative and will revolutionize transportation within the Texas Wine Industry.
“Wine-Haul Transportation takes zero profits until we are the best in every way.”

Distribution Model
Wine-Haul’s founding idea expanded early on as the needs of the wineries became better understood. The expansion into brokerage and distribution service is paramount to the value Wine-Haul provides in partnership. Most wineries in Texas are a small scale operation in terms of production and often only local brand recognition. Due mainly to the fact the industry is still infantile. But there are huge opportunities for smaller brands and wineries to strategically scale their business faster then the rest of the industry by partnering with a service like Wine-Haul. The way it works is Wine-Haul will partner with and represent select partners on behalf of the wineries brand.
Interested in further scaling and growing your brand? Wine-Haul is developing a subscription based digital marketing plan specifically for Texas wineries and their unique brands. Partnering this with brokerage, we hope that Wine-Haul will be able to provide immense value to your goals of scaling and business triumph. If you’re interested in this as well upon release feel free to reach out and maybe even become a part of its development.
“A product with better distribution will always win over a superior product with poor distribution or customer access.”

origin story
Wine-Haul’s Story
“Wine-Haul, like any business, is a story of adversity and innovation. I had worked at Baron’s Creek Vineyards for four years during highschool and though years of discussion with industry veterans and my bosses, had come to understand better what made the industry tick. I started off Wine-Haul when I was 19, trying to provide value to wineries by offering refrigerated bulk transportation services. Outside of harvest season, wineries did not require transportation very often, so consistency was difficult to propagate within the business. It was only after a talk with Rarig Ross of Ferris and Fletch Wine Company ,that I decided to Transition Wine-Haul into something that could consistently provide immense value to wineries and the industry alike.
All business want to grow and mitigate the difficulty of that growth. By creating processes that provided wineries an opportunity to do both both things I knew I had struck gold. Wineries are often not limited by production, but rather the constraint selling opportunities, after all, tasting rooms have nice margins but very limited opportunity for volume. I envisioned partnering with wineries and increasing the avenues in which they can sell wine. Not only that, but by introducing their labels to new audiences we could effectively grow consumer knowledge and loyalty of the brand all while selling more and increasing revenue for the winery. The only reason it works is by also providing value to the customer and finally the consumer. That is why Wine-Haul only partners with brands who produce quality wines with a true Texas story to tell. If customers wouldn’t want to buy it, we don’t want to represent it.”

Owner/Customer Consultatant/Wine broker
Liam Jahnke Matthes
I am a born and raised, lifelong, local to Fredericksburg, Texas. Throughout school, science and math were my favorite subjects, and I often found myself curious about the natural world. My father, Andrew Matthes, an engineer and teacher, nurtured my inquisitiveness. My mother, Cristin Jahnke Matthes, a psychologist, encouraged me to forge my own path, regardless of the status-quo. She lovingly allowed me to explore my independence and interests. I am very grateful to both of my parents for their patience and guidance; I know I was a difficult kid sometimes.
During high school, I wanted to be an engineer, but I decided it wasn’t for me. I never pursued things I didn’t see value in or a life that didn’t invoke a meaning for life. There was a time when I desired to explore the world with as few possessions as possible. I had a few trips to far away places after high school, where I more or less experienced this nomadic style of living. My love, Natalie Plancarte, had changed me a bit, and eventually it was my desire to be with her that brought me home. I regret nothing. I carry gratitude because I was able to see art and culture, and experience true freedom. I hope everybody, at some point in their life, takes a moment to just drop everything, start walking, feel, and breathe the air. Slow down your thoughts, and discover where you might end up. It’s magnificent what the wind whispers when you’re listening.
Somewhere along my journey, I caught an insatiable yearning to learn about business; more specifically, LOGISTICS. I adore discovering about the intricate systems and workings of large, logistically-oriented companies. I can ask questions all day long and still be delighted when I learn a new detail about the system. In my opinion, these companies and systems that make-up an ever-expanding supply chain are man kind’s greatest creations.
I decided to embark on the adventure to create my own great system and optimize an industry that had not yet caught a whiff of the possibilities a great logistic system can provide.
The Texas Wine Industry!! I had gained insight into the industry while working at Baron’s Creek Vineyards for four years during high school, and believe I can play a part in making Texas the national epicenter of wine. Texans’ drive and determination are more than enough to make this happen.
